The problem

Insurance brokers sell. They don’t advise.

UK brokers earn 10–25% commission on the policy you buy. Quote comparison sites optimise for the cheapest premium, not the best fit for you. The result: more than half of all UK mis-selling complaints reaching the Financial Ombudsman are upheld in the customer's favour. The wrong policy, sold convincingly, is a £500 problem at claim time.

What PolicyChecker takes to score a quote

Miss Y’s favourite tricks

Three things she won’t volunteer.

All compliant. All commission-friendly. None of them illegal. You just need to know they're in the script.

  1. 1.

    “It’s comprehensive cover.”

Comprehensive sounds total. It isn’t. Every UK policy excludes things — wear and tear, accidental damage, certain perils, certain regions. We extract every exclusion and rank them by how likely you are to actually need them.

  2. 2.

“This one is perfect for you.”

Perfect for her commission, more likely. We score the policy against 15 distinct UK buyer personas — savings-led, safety-led, family protection, retiree, expat, self-employed. You see whose policy this actually is and where you fit best.

  3. 3.

    “The excess is standard.”

Standard for whom? Page 11, clause 14 often hides a £500–£1,000 voluntary excess on the perils you’re most likely to claim. We surface every excess by line so you know the real out-of-pocket cost before you sign.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

Are you independent? Do you sell my data?+

Yes, fully independent. We carry no broker licence, no commissions, no affiliate links to insurers, and we never sell your data. The point of PolicyChecker is to be the analysis your broker can’t be.

What policies can you score?+

UK consumer insurance — home (buildings + contents), motor, travel, pet, gadget. We do not score commercial or specialist policies (marine, professional indemnity, etc.) — those need a specialist broker.

How accurate is the AI scoring?+

The free basic score is a 60-second AI read — directional, not definitive. The deep £2.99 report runs 5 parallel AI evaluations against your chosen persona plus 4 contrasting personas, surfaces every exclusion + excess, and cites the clause it’s acting on. Use it alongside — not instead of — reading your policy document.

Why are you cheaper than a broker?+

Brokers earn commission on every policy sold — typically 10–25%. We charge a flat £2.99 once, get nothing from the insurer, and have no incentive to point you at one provider over another.

What if my policy is fine?+

Great — that’s a useful £2.99. Most reports come back with at least one exclusion the buyer hadn’t noticed and one clause that could surprise them at claim time. If yours doesn’t, you’ve bought peace of mind.

Who builds this?+

711 Web Services LLP, United Kingdom — the same team behind ClaimPilot.uk. UK-hosted on AWS London, end-to-end encrypted, GDPR-compliant.
